Thought I did inform you about the Media & Info centre being launched at Mysore City Corporation. Kindly visit the following websites for updated information.
I visited the first website www.mysoredasara.info and a went through a few pages. Most of them fail to give any information as they are 'under construction'. One can understnad this as the programmes are not finalised yet.
But what I found in the first few link pages is the wrong information offered to those who visit this website!
'Mahishasuranauru' is mentioned in the page 'Evolution'! Where did this word come from?! No where, not in mythology or historical records, one can find this word! Was Maranayaka a 'trouble shooter'? Vijayanagar Empire and Krishnadevaraya are mentioned, but where is this 'Mahanavami Dibba? Did the author of this content forgot the name of 'Hampi'? Where should a tourist search for Mahanavami Dibba in Vijayanagar kingdom? Was it not in 1609 that Raja Wodeyar seized Srirangapatna after the 'Kesare war', near Mysore?
The link, 'the Kings' has just two-paras! It mentions only Raja Wodeyar. Raja Wodeyar did not make just one rule about Dasara festivities. He codified the entire festival, the manner in which the royal family should celebrate. This is still followed by the Mysore royal family. 'The Kings' should have given details of the Wodeyar dynasty, not repeat about Dasara during Raja Wodeyar. Indeed a very poor and half-hearted effort! Shows the author of the content has very poor knowledge of history and facts!
More can be written on this poor website. The pictures are good of course.
