The Deccan Herald photo of  CM during an early morning stroll round the village

Maybe, the CM had a point in spending a night at a village 'thottimane' near Nanjangud. He was up and about early the next morning and took a  6.30  am stroll round the village, something he couldn't easily  have done otherwise.. The CM dropped in on a village resident, nursing a snakebite wound, directed the escorting officials to arrange for his medical expenses; sanctioned, on the spot, a junior college and a school for the village; and ordered that adequate land be set aside for a burial ground  for Dalit residents. Many other schemes were annonced during his visit.

Could we count on the CM to come back for a sleep-in at the village, maybe after three months, so that he could take another early morning stroll, to check out if his orders had been carried out ?       .

I am a cynic where politicians are concerned. We nurse a healthy cynicism here in London about all political leaders including Tony Blair and the opposition leader David Cameron, and I said to them this when I had an opportunity to meet them a few months ago.

This young Karnataka CM seem to be doing something new. Worth watching him with cynicism in reserve.
