Dear Friends,

It was such a pleasure to have met up with Mr. Srinivasa Rao on 27th May at Cosmopolitan Club.

The get-together must have started at 8. I joined at about 8.30 the venue was shifted from Pool side to the lawn as pool side is reserved for the families (?). It was wonderful and we exchanged many a ideas. As usual introduction of every guest. We had Dr. Javeed Nayeem, Cine artist of yesteryear Chetan Rama Rao, Industrialist Jayanth Hegde, Devendra, myself and our host Nagakumar.

We spoke initially about Mysore and its advantages to be here. Srinivasa Rao spoke about the research and development he is into and we were very happy to know the recognition Mr. Rao has got both from the US govt. and the Silicon Vally Entrepreneurs. We did briefly discuss about why we Indians shine when we are out of our country (true perhaps for every country). The discussion then moved on to the plight of the aged parents staying behind in their home town and son's and daughters going places. The social, emotional physiological and moral angle of this problem was discussed. It was at this point that our host Nagakumar informed us of his plans to have a 'Old Age Home' on the outskirts of Mysore. We appriciated and offered our best of help and be part of this venture. Mr. Rao. was also appreciative of this venture. I briefly discussed about the nanotechnology Mr. Rao is into and got an insight into this exciting technology.

Dr. Nayeem informed us about the planing that was needed for this kind of a project from medical perspective. Chetan Rama Rao spoke about lack of this kind of a social commitment from the film fraternity.

Devendra was all excited and it was actually he who initiated this discussion. Our host was as usually very calm and gave his consent to this project and perhaps made notes of the suggestions and comments from all of us.

On the whole it was a wonderful evening and Mr. Rao has promised to be back in Mysore sometime in July. I am sure he will be in-touch and we will again have a chance to meet again.

The group expresses appreciation fort Mr. Nagakumar for hosting the get together. We bid adieu at about 11.30 pm. I dropped Mr. Rao to his house in Saraswathipuram which is on my way to my house at T.K.Layout.

shanks

Good day GVK, Nagkumar and fellow colleagues!

Thank you for an exceptional evening. It has been about two weeks since we all sat together face-to-face and rubbed elbow and chewed on Maddur Vadai at the Cosmopolitan Club. But it feels like just yesterday!

It was invigorating to review that while we were for the most part new to one another we were completely at home on this “blind gang date”. All in all I found the venue to be very professional, and the make up of people to be a bunch of thorough professionals!

Do accept my sincere apologies for not getting back immediately with a brief note to thank all of you.  Let me say it now – THANK YOU (collectively)! And say it again, thank you as individuals.

When one takes time off, work keeps piling up and requests attention. This is my official excuse for not writing sooner.

Thanks to GVK once again (I called on him after my return) and thanks to Nagkumar for setting this meeting in such lovely surroundings. Many firsts for all of us, not just us people, but the foods too. This was my first intro to Neeru Dosa’, and as it turned out to several others as well.

It was good to learn about each and every one of you. We learned that Dr. Javeed Nayeem is a good cook when it comes to Biryani. Just as teaser, amongst the many other talents and traits in the team.

It was absolutely heart-warming to note the drive in every one to do some collective good to the community. The project that Nagkumar brought up – Retirement Home for the Aged appears to be in tune with the theme. The technical programs surrounding after-market products for automobiles obviously caught my ear! Unfortunately I was unable to get a preview of the ‘bread board’. On my next visit I do wish to learn more and give my undivided attention. The evening went off rather quickly, correct me – we were the last ones to leave the premises! I felt like a teenager in the company of fine friends.

I promise to correspond with all of you in more detail very soon. Until then, I wish one and all the very best! Thanks for a wonderful evening. The next event is on me.

My next posting ought to carry the two pictures I have of the gathering.

Srinivas Rao
