I did not know much about blogging, read some blogs before, but never wrote one until Mr. GVK facilitated a blog page for me and linked it to mymysore.com and then I thought, what do write? I decided to write on my subject, aviation, and started out by writing articles that read like news reports or like an essay. Too structured, as Mr. GVK would have put it. As I continued to write, it dawned on me to start re-inventing my style of writing and topics started to look a little more user friendly for first time readers.
When I started writing my blogs, I never expected that the articles would generate any interest. I wrote simply because I enjoyed writing and if it gave information to other readers or browsers about my subject, I considered that much as being satisfactory. Now I receive quite a lot of comments and responses from people living all around the place from Mysore to manhattan, literally. My blog is now a forum for asking questions on the topics that i write, my replies and it has also truned into "mentoring" a few aspiring pilot candidates as well! I should thank my readers, for continued support to my articles and surly they would like to see more bloggers on mymysore.com so that they can enjoy some articles that are local and chatty in nature. A blog must be chatty, Mr. GVK tells me, and I agree with him. That way, it can be reader friendly and interactive. It need not be an essay of sorts. I hope I have understood that.
I have started a new blog topic where I have invited my readers or any one casually browsing, to ask questions on any topic related to aviation. I have also mentioned some of the FAQ's I get when people come to know that I am a pilot. I have started to get some interactivity already and have made honest attempts to answer those questions and I invite more participation on my blog page, http://mymysore72.blogspot.com/
Like Dr. Shenoy says, there are some topics that no one replies to. Thats happened here too and thats fine. The traffic I have generated, god knows how, on my blog page (link given below) has been great. One look and it tells you that most of my articles posted on my page gets some comments. In fact, the response was so good on one topic about aviation questions, I had to post a aviation questions part 2 to continue and that did well too. Maybe it is good luck, kind wishes, interesting and new subject or whatever.
I never expected this type of reaction, in such volumes, in such a short time. By the way, mymysore forum members are few and far between in their comments except for a handful "usuals" such as Mr. GVK, Mr. Madhukar, Mr. Vijendra Rao. I thank them profusely. As for the rest of the comments and replies I get, they are widespread and not even remotely connected with Mysore and mymysore.com and thats where the maximum support is from. So, either other mymysore forum members are too scared or shy to ask questions on aviation or make a comment, or they already know everything about this subject or they are not interested in the subject. Maybe there is another reason?
