New Year eve celebrations in 2005 were different from those I have seen in 45 years in Mysore. No late-night revelry, not much of ‘hungama’ on the streets, thanks to proper ‘bandobast’ and proactive steps taken by the police commissioner to maintain public order. The atmosphere was conducive for families to have a night out in restaurants and clubs.
At the Officers Club It was an occasion for fun and games for families, led by the district’s top official, Mr Selvakumar, IAS, and his wife. They handed out prizes, mingled with club members and joined in at a ‘barakhana’.- T.V.R.Rao
