Where in Mysore Would I Find?

Dear Readers,

As a person who was born in Mysore, (Bassapaji Laya area) I have fond memories of a lot of things. Many of which appear to have 'disapeared', obviously things never quite go away they all have a way of 'morphing' themselves and take on a new shape or form, or just move to another physical address or place.

The objective of this forum is to provide a venue to ask about things they reminisce or others to learn of how things were.

1. In this context I was aware of an aged person who was across from Subba Rao Kere (along 100ft Road) with the ability to read 'Nadi'. This individual was very good. Does anyone remember this person and his where abouts? Does any one know where this capability resides to day?  A real person - hence a Name and Address! I am sure there are good as well as not so good readers of 'Nadi'.

2. Another capability also along the 100ft Road was 'Puttur Bone Setters'. Is this still around? Or know of someone else with this gifted or experienced capability to help people with back pain etc.?

3. I was also aware of a great 'Palm Reader' unfortunately he made house calls and I really do not know where he lives. He rode his bicycle in to read as necessary.

Please do share.

Srinivas

I know about the Puttur Centre. When I last saw, a year ago, it was still there.

Most of the Subbarayana Kere residents of the 50s-60s have left the place, selling their houses.
Originally the Puttur bone setter was at the Amble Annaiah Pandit Choultry. He is no more. I hink his son is continuing the same job. His shop is in the building, near the Lakshmi Talkies, on 100 Ft Road or as it is known today, the Chamaraja Double Road.

Dear Readers:

While in Mysore do as Mysoreans do! At times one gets lost while searching for a place and one innocently asks another - "Please help me get to XYZ". The helpful Samaritan with nothing but good intentions in the heart typically responds with - "Nettige Hogbide, 2 Kms, ashthe. Ammaley matthe alle yar naro keli".

You know that drives some of us crazy!   Firstly we are led off in an opposite directions (at times), and the wishful idea of having to ask another soul the same exact question all over - but distnaced 2 kms away!

I really love the good loving and caring nature of us Mysoreans but why do we wish to subject people to a wild goose chase?

To help those few lost souls I post a map that gives some bearings. If others are aware of better maps, please do post it.

I really do love my Mysore.

Yes, the Puttur Bone Setter is still there close to Lakshmi Talkies [also one of the older theatres] and it will still be there in the future. Dr.Raju still continues to treat patients that throng with broken bones etc. He is also a qualified homoeopath. I sometimes go here to meet him [he's my friend] as well as buy some homoeo medicines from his shop. January 2006.

Dinakar,

Thanks for sharing the information on the "Bone Setter" question. Does any one on this viewer list have personal experience with such 'bone setters'? Back aches etc., I am told are usually the result of mis-alligned spine etc and I believe such experts really bring phenomenal results.

A seperate question comes to mind. This too is fits the banner of 'where in Mysore would I find'. As a spiritual person I am aware of the power that lies within us. Has anyone come across people around Mysore who have 'amazing power' and thus able to 'heal', see into the future, answer questions that people have etc. Generally such people are classified as Mystics. I am intrigued by such folks. Years ago, I recall when Saraswathipuram was still developing there was a temple perhaps close to 14th Main (unsure if officially there was a 14th Main yet), and a man at around a set time (2:00 PM?) suddenly display super powers. Many of these folks are absolutely genuine. I would really like to know!

LOve,

Srinivas

First you have to reach Mysore. From Mysore main bus stand you will get bus for KR Nagar or Hassan Bus. it will take nearly 1 Hour to reach KR Nagar. from bus stand it is very near, and any one tell that place, it walkable distant only. and you must reach the clinic at 4.30am to 5.oo am. One person will give the token at 6.oo am. lot of crowd will come, the Dr will see 150 patients approx daily. so if you are going early is the best, near by some hotels also available to stay.

About the treatement: medicine is controlling the severe pain with short period. curing will take time depend on the patient.
