Child welfare was the theme declared at the Lions regional meet held over the weekend in Mysore. Nearly 1,000 delegates from  Mysore, Mandya and Charmarajanagar districts participated. President of the Bharthiya Vidya Bhavan, Mr Mathoor Krishnamurthy, who was the chief guest, appreciated the Lions Clubs for their service to society. Braile watches were given to 50 students of the local Hellen Keller school, and white uniforms distributed to the needy school children. Smt. Puttaveeramma of the school for the deaf-mute was honoured on the occasion.

District governor Ln. M Aswathaiah reviewed the progress of Lions Club activities at  the business session held at Hotel Sandesh the Prince; and called on members to focus on this year’s theme - child welfare.
